The majestic St Isaac’s Cathedral, the largest orthodox basilica in the world, is the city’s main church. It was constructed between 1818 and 1858 by French-born architect Auguste Montferrand. St Isaac’s Cathedral is a must see in St Petersburg and one if its most important landmarks. We recommend climbing St Isaac’s colonnade – 300 steps will take you to 40 m altitude. From the colonnade you’ll see magnificent views over St Petersburg. So, make sure to climb the colonnade. (Note: May 1 – September 30 from 10.30 am until 10.30 pm; May 1 – October 31 from 10.30 am until 6 p.m.). .
